The Tar Heel Motel has a new look with a retro vibe and same great location as always. With 32 individually appointed guest rooms, a beautifully landscaped pool area and easy beach access, the Tar Heel is the perfect place for your next Nags Head getaway. 

Every room offers a microwave and mini-fridge, plus a convection toaster oven big enough to cook a pizza. For those who prefer to explore the local dining scene, we are also located close to some of the Outer Banks favorite restaurants, from fine dining at Owens to classic beach fare at Sam and Omie’s to burgers and ice cream at Fat Boyz. 

The Tar Heel is located at Milepost 16 in Nags Head, close to Jennette’s Pier and across the bypass from the Soundside Event Site. We are a great choice whether you are in town for a wedding at the pier or for an event like Taste of the Beach or the Seafood Festival. While everyone else is worried about parking, you’ll be able to pop back into your room any time you need a break!
